Kristy and Robert were married last weekend, at the ever lovely Kirk's Reservoir (even though it was a bit of a quagmire: fixed by a well placed and long carpet runner). It was a ceremony just overflowing with love and joy for each other, their family and their beloved ferrets, two of which featured in the bridal party entry. I do love a ferret, and I was so thrilled to have time with these gorgeous creatures. It was actually quite fun to try to find a reading involving ferrets that was suitable for a wedding, but I think I pulled it off! Thanks so much to Kristy and Robert for having me as your celebrant, it was such a joyful experience for me.
“The Ferret Love Poem”, written by Jessie Jett.
You hop around, and hide under beds. You jump, and launch to
attack my head.
Your tail gets all puffy, when you get excited.
Don't even try
my friend, because you can't hide it.
You steal everything. You! You take all
my things.
Everything from pencils, to bells, my money and rings.
But how cute
you are, I could never get mad. You brighten my day when I am sad.
Oh how you
dance, and jump. You run and flop.
The noises you make send it over the top. What
an amazing animal you are indeed.
You're a wonderful joy, a happiness, I need.
